James G. McHaffie has served as Director of World Missions for the Southern Missouri District Council of the Assemblies of God since January 1996. The Southern Missouri District responsibilities include 368 churches and 1400 ministers.
An ordained minister of the Assemblies of God and a graduate of Central Bible College, McHaffie served as pastor of churches in Alabama and Missouri. In Missouri, he was pastor of Full Gospel Assembly of God in Patterson (1977-93) and Western Hills Assembly of God in Jefferson City (1993-96). As pastor, he led those churches to a high awareness of missions and ministries to men and boys. He served as a member of the District Missions Committee from 1978-95 and was appointed to serve as the World Missions Director in December 1995.
During his tenure, missions giving and the number of missionary families have seen a healthy increase. Southern Missouri District has 86 missionary families located in 37 nations and the USA.
James and Dorothy McHaffie make their home in Springfield, Missouri. They have two grown children, Melody and Andy and 5 grandchildren.
